At its Sisseln production site, DSM-Firmenich is building a pioneering multi-purpose building called “SPACE” (Sisseln Personalrestaurant and Analytical Center). The four-storey building innovatively combines various uses under one roof and creates modern working environments for the employees of the chemical and pharmaceutical group.
The new building comprises not only a modern staff restaurant with 150 seats, but also central analytical laboratories on two floors, contemporary office workstations based on a multi-space concept and four training rooms for internal professional development. With a footprint of 60 x 30 metres and a height of 20 metres, a striking new building is taking shape which, with photovoltaic systems on the south façade and the roof, is also pioneering in terms of energy.

– Heating, ventilation, air conditioning: quality assurance of the complex HVAC systems for different usage zones – from the canteen and office areas to the specialised laboratory rooms with their particular requirements for air change rate and temperature control.
– Electrical engineering: review of the electrical installations, including the busbar systems in the laboratory zone and the IT infrastructure for modern workplace design.
– Building automation: ensuring the integration of various control and monitoring systems, from room booking to gas detection in the laboratory areas.
– Laboratory planning: technical support for the implementation of the quality control (QC) laboratories with an open-space concept, specialised instrument rooms for HPLC and GC, and the special laboratory for sensitising substances.
